The one on the left. It's a Logitech Harmony 550. Over 300,000 devices in the Harmony database. Tons of options... great for current systems which are often running two or three or more components to watch television. One button and it turns them all on.
My one complaint would be the web-heavy interface. Even the PC software uses a browser frame for setup. It's a bit sluggish, and not exactly the most user-friendly.
It looks like it can run a pretty good version of Mario Teaches Channel Flipping.
So can I hook that up to my laptop so as to push a button and have iTunes pop up with out having to leave the confort on my Desktop.
Point of interest, those locations are 3 feet away from eachother. Less if you count the chairs.

Only if your laptop has an IR port and normally supports a remote. This thing is meant for entertainment centers, not computers (unless it's Media Center).

Huh?
IR port yes, setup for a remote, doubt it.
My desktop computer is 3 feet away from my laptop. The chairs I have infront of them are about 6inches away from eachother. Thus the suttle bit of dry humor.
Well, there is software that can use an IR port for remote stuff, if it's not some weird proprietary thing.
And too subtle for me...
